Every lighted intersection in Casper has a plain, boring signal cabinet that controls the traffic light.  Casper Mural Project is transforming some of these boxes into public art.  The Casper Mural Project calls all Natrona County artists to submit an original work of art.  Suggestions for themes include “rebirth,” “modern Wyoming,” and “abstract.”  Out of the many submissions, four pieces will be selected.  The winning works will then be transformed into vinyl wraps covering four traffic signal cabinet boxes.

All Entries will be reviewed at the time of submission to ensure adherence to the artwork condition rules and regulations.

Here is how “Casper Mural Project Wrap Program” works:

1. Any artist who resides or goes to school in Natrona County may submit a work.  Work from artists residing outside of the county will not be considered.  If you know of an artist not on our list, please copy and pass on the invitation.
2. Winning artists from prior years may not submit (This includes the City-run Traffic Box Program).
3. Winning Artists will be paid a fee of $200 for their work.  The Casper Mural Project will own the physical piece; however, the artist will retain ownership of the design and may reproduce it without the City’s or Casper Mural Project’s permission.  
4. The deadline for submission is July 25, 2026.  Submissions are to be dropped off at the front desk of ART 321 (321 Midwest Ave) during regular business hours (Monday-Friday 10 am – 8 pm; Saturday 10 am- 4 pm)
5. The exhibition will be at ART 321, and winners will be selected at the beginning of August.  A panel of judges will select the works.
6. We can accept only original work; no commercial reproductions, please.  
7. Artists are welcome to submit a previously created piece as long as the artist owns the rights to the work.  
8. It is encouraged that artists create something tailored to the three-dimensional format of the electric boxes.
9. We welcome up to two (2) total submissions per artist.
10. Submissions may not contain more than 20% words.
11. Submission designs should avoid large amounts (over 20%) of the color black. 
12. Submissions should include a copy or photo of the work being submitted and the schematic drawing of how the work will appear on the box. 
13. The Casper Mural Project, The City of Casper, and Art 321 reserve the right to reject any submissions that lack a significant connection to Casper’s culture, heritage, and history.
